Prayer Ministry

More than two thousand years have passed since scripture wrote about Prayer, and during that time till now, a lot has been said and written on the subject of prayer. Multitudes of books and materials have been published on it. However, the bottom line still remains the same …”The earnest (fervent) prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16

Jesus also commanded us to “Pray without ceasing,” in other words we as Christians should pray continually. Prayer is simply a communication with God our father. Through prayer we are able to access the “Presence, Love and Power” of God’s for Grace, Mercy, Favour, Protection and many more spiritual blessings from our heavenly father. One of the beautiful things which the bible reveals to us is that there many different kinds of prayer.

GUIDING SCRIPTURES

1 Thessalonians 5:17 – 18 (NIV)

Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds (manner) of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

For example, in sports there are all kinds of games: football, golf, rugby, tennis, basketball, to name a few. Playing a volley will not score points in golf, and the same is generally true in prayer. Applying the wrong kind of prayer to a given situation will not bring the desired results.

Currently there are four main prayer ministries in South London Mission -
